                                                Regulations pertaining to BBM Degree Semester Scheme


The main objective of the BBM programme is to motivate young students to take up challenges in lower level and middle - level executive positions in business and industry, in the context of the globalization process going on in the economy. It is also envisaged, to equip them with decision making skills, computing skills, analytical skills, entrepreneurial skills and so on.

Eligibility: Students who have completed two - year Pre-University Course of Karnataka State or equivalent there to are eligible to seek admission to BBM degree course.

Duration of the Course: The Course of study for the BBM Degree shall extend over a period of three academic years. Each academic year comprising of two semesters and each semester comprising of sixteen weeks of class work. Provided that the candidate shall complete his/her Degree within six years from the date of admission to the First Semester of BBM Degree Course.

3 Medium of Instruction: The medium of instruction and examination shall be in English.

Subjects of Study: A candidate for the BBM degree course shall offer the subjects stated under clause 6.

5 Attendance:

1  Each semester shall be taken as a unit for the purpose of calculating attendance.
2 A student shall be considered to have satisfied the requirement of attendance for the semester, if he has attended not less than 75% of the number of working periods in each of the subject.
3 A student who fails to complete the course in the manner stated above shall not be allowed to take the University examinations

Project Report:

1  The Project Report in the Sixth semester carries 100 marks which shall be form part of Sixth semester examination.
2  There shall be double evaluation of Project Report. First evaluation shall be done by the concern guide and the Second evaluation by one of the examiners from the Panel of examiners. The Chairman of the BOE in Business Management (UG) shall arrange for the Second evaluation of the Project Reports at the Valuation Centre.
3  The Principal of the College shall submit the Project Reports of the students, after first evaluation, to the University within three days after the completion of VI semester examination along with the marks lists of First Examiners.
4  Candidate shall obtain minimum of 35% marks in this subject (Project Report) failing which he/she shall revise and resubmit before the commencement of the next examination. However, no student shall be allowed to resubmit the Project Report after three consecutive chances.
5 The student who fails to submit the Project Report shall not be permitted to take the examination.

Viva Voce
The Board of Examiners shall conduct viva-voce examination for Project Report.

 

7 Scheme of Examination: There shall be a University examination at the end of each semester. The maximum marks for the University examination in paper shall be 90 and 10 for Skill Development Record Maintenance.

Marls for Skill Development Record Maintenance shall be awarded by the teacher who taught the paper. And the teacher concerned shall hand over within three days after end of the semester period, the marks list to the Head of Department who in turn shall handover, within the next three days, to the Principal.

The Principal shall display marks on the notice board paper-wise and student-wise one week prior to the commencement of the semester examination. And the original copy of the same, duly signed by the Head of the Department and Principal, shall be sent by Principal to the Registrar (Evaluation) before the commencement of the semester examination.

Appearance For the Examination:

a) A candidate shall apply for all the parts in each examination when he/she appears for the first time. A candidate shall be considered to have appeared for the examination only if he/she has submitted the prescribed application for the examination along with the required fees.
b) A candidate who has passed any language under Part-I shall be eligible to claim exemption from the study of the language if he/she studies and passed that language at the corresponding level.
c)  Further, a candidates, shall also be eligible to claim exemption from studying and pass in those Commerce subjects which he/she has studied and passed at the corresponding level, subject to the conditions stipulated by the University.
d)  A candidate who is permitted to seek admission to particular degree course on transfer from any other University shall have to study and pass the subjects which are prescribed by the University. Such candidates shall not however, be eligible for the award of class or ranks.

9. Minimum for a Pass: Candidates who have obtained at least 35% of marks in aggregate in each subject shall be eligible for a pass or exemption in that subject. The minimum marks per paper is 33%. However, there is no minimum marks for pass for record maintenance.

10.  Classification of Successful Candidates

1.  The results of the first to sixth semester degree examination shall be declared and classified separately as follows:

a. First Class

Those who obtain 60% and above of the total marks of parts I, II, & III.

b. Second Class

Those who obtain 50% and above but less than 60% of the total marks of parts I, II, & III.

c. Pass Class

Rest of the successful candidates who secure 35% and above but less than 50% of marks in parts I, II, III.

2.  The results of the degree course as a whole shall be declared on the basis of the aggregate marks obtained by the candidates in the Commerce subjects of the First year, Second years, and Third year degree course put together as follows:

a. First Class

Those who obtain 60% and above of the aggregate in the commerce subjects of First year, II year and III year degree course.

b. Second Class

Those who obtain 50% and above but less than 60% of the aggregate marks in the Commerce subjects of the First year, Second year & Third year degree course.

c. Pass Class

Rest of the successful candidates who obtain 35% and above but less than 50% of the aggregate marks in the Commerce subjects of the First year, Second Year and Third year degree course.

3.  Class and Ranks shall be declared on the basis of the aggregate marks obtained by the candidates in the Commerce subjects of the first to Six semesters of degree course as a whole. However, only those candidates who have passed each semester public examination in the first attempt only shall be eligible for the award of ranks. The first ten ranks only shall be notified.

11.  Medals and Prizes: No candidates passing an external examination shall be eligible for any scholarship, fellowship, medal, prize or any other award.

12.  Conditions to Keep Terms:

a. A candidate is allowed to carry all the previous uncleared papers to the subsequent semester/semesters.
b. Such of those candidates who have failed/remained absent/ opt of improve in any one or more papers (theory/practical/dissertation/project work/field work) henceforth called as repeaters, shall appear for exam in such paper/s during the three immediate successive examinations.
c.  Examination for odd/even semester shall be conducted respectively at the end of odd/even semester (odd with odd, even with even).
d.  The candidate shall take the examination as per the syllabus and the scheme of examination in force during the subsequent appearances.

13.  Pattern of Question Paper: Examination in each theory question paper shall be for 3 hours duration. The Question Paper shall ordinarily consist of two/three sections. The model of the Question Paper shall be follows:

1.  SECTION-A: (10 x 2 = 20)
This section carries 20 marks. It shall contain objective type question designed to test conceptual knowledge of students.
2.  SECTION-B: (5 x 5 = 25)
This section carries 25 marks. It shall contain questions designed to test the analytical ability of students.
3. SECTION-C: (3 x 15 = 45)
This section carries 45 marks. It shall contain essay type question designed to test the comprehension and application skills of students.

14. Provision For Improvement of Results: The candidates shall be permitted to improve the results of the whole examination or of any Semester or any subject within 30 days after the publication of the results. This provision shall be exercised only once during the course and the provision once exercised shall not be revoked. The application for improvement of results shall be submitted to the Registrar (Evaluation) along with the prescribed fee. 

15.  Removal of Difficulties At The Commencement of Theses Regulations: If any difficulty arises while giving effect to the provisions of these Regulations, the Vice-Chancellor may in extraordinary circumstances, pass such orders as he may deem fit.
