STARTED in 1997, the mission of HKBK College of Engineering is to provide the best educational experience to students through excellence in teaching, research, creative activities and service to society.

"The management of the college understands that the need of the hour is to provide quality education to students," says Abdul Hameed SA, Administrator, HKBK College of Engineering.

The college regularly organizes cultural events to help students explore a gamut of interests and activities. The campus is replete with a well-equipped gymnasium and sports field, encouraging students to pursue their interests in sports.

So, it's an all rounded approach that the college adopts. "Not only are we able to excel in sports and academics at HKBK, but are confident about our career prospects as well. I have already secured a job in an MNC!" beams Avilash Ghosh, a sixth semester student from the information science & engineering department.

Apart from being recognised by the All India Council for Technical Education, HKBKCE is also recognised by the Government of Karnataka and is affiliated to the Visvesvaraya Technological

University
.
The institution offers five courses in engineering, viz., computer science, information science, electronics & communication, electrical & electronics and mechanical with 1,400 students attending these courses. The college offers MBA programmes in finance, HR & marketing as well. With its focus on a wellrounded education, HKBK boasts of international standard labs. Every department is fully computerized. The college has 10 computer labs apart from well equipped workshops. "Computers here have the latest Dual Core and Core 2 Duo processors. I am happy to have opted for HKBK," says Shwetha, a sixth semester computer science & engineering student.

Such facilities with a backbone of distinguished faculty, adds to this institution's pride. Professors bring with them experience in their disciplines of study and their dedication focuses on all round development and academic excellence for their students.

The principal and teachers are in constant interaction with parents, which helps increase students' chances of success in academics.

"With teachers taking extra care towards students who don't perform well, our college offers tutorial and extra coaching classes after 3 pm. Student counselling helps teachers sort out their problems. We offer help through our Weak Student Support Programme, Merit Scholarships, Financial Aids and Personality Development Programmes as well. The college offers career guidance and placement services apart from industry and institution interactive sessions," says Abdul Hameed.

To integrate the information system into the present curriculum, students have access to an exhaustive collection of books, journals, technical magazines and CDs on technical subjects at HKBK's state-of-the-art library replete with 29,120 books, 74 journals and technical magazines.

HKBK provides all facilities as per university requirements. Well equipped labs, spacious classrooms and an extensive library apart, there are separate hostels for girls and boys.

And what holds the HKBK flag flying high is its endeavour to hone good citizens of tomorrow. "College is a platform to mould students to be fit models acceptable to society; they should not only excel in subject matter, but should develop positive traits, add value to life and become role models," smiles CM Ibrahim, chairman, HKBK.
